The Irish Government increases online gambling taxation rates

The latest announcement made by the Irish Government related to online gambling refers to the increment of taxation rates on all online bets placed in the online casinos from Emerald Isle.

Besides this, a 15% increase in taxation on all online best has been imposed for all offshore casino companies. This news has been given by the Government of Fine Gael.

According to the statement, the changing of online gambling regulations has been long sought for by the Irish Government.  To begin this process, the Government has decided to start by increasing the taxation rates for all the online bets in the Irish online casinos. It is so expected for a growth to €20 million in one year.

As the Finance Minister stated in his speech regarding the budget, so far the betting taxed and duties have applied only for bets made in betting shops and for those ones made online or by phone, by Irish citizen, with offshore gambling operators.
